Don’t worry too much about HOW MUCH you contribute to a social change
Why we know we should change, can change, but we don’t change
We all know what is good for us.
What is healthy & whatnot.
What we should do & what we should stop doing.
But we don’t change our behavior for the things we know are better.
Why? One answer is:
DIFFICULT.
Our brain refuses things that are hard, complicated & time-consuming.
So unless we make the good/ healthy/ sustainable options simple & easy
People will never change their behavior.
How to make them care
People won’t care about climate change, deforestation, gender equality, or any other global issue, UNLESS
They understand how it would severely affect THEIR life directly if they don’t take action.
That’s why raising awareness is always the first step.
So next time when we convince somebody to do something, either for a good cause or a personal change
Begin with explaining WHY they should do it, for their OWN sake.
When does “quantity” outweigh “quality”?
To solve any serious big problem.
We don’t need quality but QUANTITY when it comes to effort.
One zero-waste restaurant has almost no impact.
But if many restaurants commit to just small sustainable changes (like no disposable plastic cutlery) — enough to make our planet healthier.
Ten people follow a strict vegan diet — make no difference.
But a whole company/ school/ hospital/ etc. that has vegan Monday for every week would change the game.
Don’t worry too much about HOW MUCH you contribute to a social change, or HOW SERIOUS you are towards a personal transformation to better yourself.
As long as you do something about it, you’re good!
